Mega Training Session for the Girls
Some 40 girls enjoyed a mixed training session and game in the beautiful sunshine on Sunday. We travelled to Bedford with three age groups of players to prepare for the forthcoming season. The u13s kickoff their campaign on Sunday 22nd with the development tournament at Buckingham. The u15s start the following week with a cup match at Gosford All Blacks. They will train at Olney on the 22nd.
The u15s are now into more or less full rugby rules so the focus was on some of the technical aspects of the game. The u13s worked on rucking and support play. New players Nancy, Zena and Olivia showed some excellent skills, with Nancy popping up everywhere and Zena scoring a wonder solo try to finish the match. Old hands Hattie and Ella continued their hugely impressive improvement in the pack, running and rucking hard. Hollie, in her first outing of the season, continued where she left off with some good skills. Madeleine, Eva and Mimi all worked hard in the backs and showed pace and steps to burn. Equally pleasing was the fact that our partners from Bedford also showed very well, with all the girls cooperating and demonstrating excellent skills. Grace and Shelby ran well, with Shelby being one of the players of the day. Amalia also move the ball nicely, with the final member of the Bedford contingent showing live wire running in support.
We have several players coming back next week, so the squad also shows strength in depth.
This was a really pleasing hit out in hot weather for the girls and gives real optimism for the season. Roll on Buckingham!
