In the final match before the mid-season break we were to have welcomed Market Bosworth, a town probably most famous for being near the site of the last significant battle of the Wars of the Roses in 1485 which saw the demise of King Richard III. In this winter of discontent, the option offered by the RFU to postpone the match over covid safety concerns was the reason Bosworth decided to stay put, so the match will be rescheduled for a later date. This came as a bit of a disappointment for the Olney squad who were looking forward to possibly going into the second half of the season as unbeaten league leaders and keeping up the momentum from previous games. However, one can understand these decisions being made and the reasons behind them.
We did hear a story from earlier this month when Mrs Harris was excited to discover something in her wardrobe Mr Harris had bought her for their first Christmas together. On bounding in to show Mr Harris while wearing it she expressed her delight that it still fitted after all these years, to which he looked up and said, “That’s brilliant, but if you want a new scarf I’ll get you one!”
As we are now well into the festive season with all it may bring, we can only wish everyone all the very best. Thank you for taking the time to read these reports and the rambling words of an ancient scribe. Sometimes it’s not really what happened on the pitch and not really what he’s thinking, but no-one would want to know what goes on in there anyway. Stay safe everyone, think of others as well as yourselves, have a great Christmas and look forward to good times ahead. This reporter is now going out for the evening wearing women’s clothing to eat drink and be Mary.
