Today we should have welcomed Stamford to Doff’s Field but unfortunately they were unable to raise a side. This is a shame as the game was sponsored by our friends from the cricket club, but the pre-match hospitality went ahead, a good time was had by all and the thirds had some good support.
Meanwhile the seconds travelled to Peterborough to play a side which apparently contained a number of their first team. In terrible conditions and on a particularly wet pitch, they came off second best but gave a good account of themselves. Final score was 20-0. The thirds also lost to a strong Kettering side.
We were forwarded a text from Mrs Harris earlier in the week which Mr Harris sent to her and she wishes to share it with us. It goes like this….”I was on the loo and realised there was no paper so having to do the awkward trousers down waddle to get some more. Well, I’m nearly at Sainsbury’s so shall I get 6 or 12?”
