After 12 months of negotiation, we are pleased to announce that Olney RFC has been accepted into the inaugural 2022 summer season of the World Rugby Paddle Board League.

The club’s application featured heavily on the advantage of us having our own stretch over river and several members with a lot of hot air to blow up the paddle boards. On a visit to the club last summer, the delegates from the WRPBL were very impressed by all the practice being put in and the crowds watching…we didn’t have the heart to tell them that’s the ‘Rec’ and we are the other side of the hedge.

The club, lead by Life member Dave ‘Haggis’ Atkins, have engaged in some pre-season training with Thai Club – วันเมษาหน้าโง่หรือวันเอพริลฟูล. He can be seen here in our training kit…no one needs to see him in Cerise and French grey Budgie Smugglers.

With great entente cordiale, Avril Le Fou, of the lead club, France's “Le Premier Poisson” said “Zut Alors, Les Anglais…It’s a good job you play in French grey else we would have voted against you”.
