Sponsorship is so important to the club and over the next few weeks, as this season draws to a close, we are going to be thanking all our sponsors for their support of the club over the 2021/22 season. so let's start here...
Olney Rugby Club has received a welcome donation of £15,000 from a local housebuilder.
Bovis Homes, which is building homes nearby at Yardley Manor, decided to donate £500 for every house sold at the development and the total will go towards brand-new changing rooms for the growing ladies, girls and minis & juniors teams.
Tom Salsbury, president of Olney RFC, said: “Thanks to Bovis Homes for this generous gift. Donations like this are the lifeblood of the club. It means more than just money – it’s a huge support to the rugby club. As one of the oldest associations in Olney, there aren’t many families in the town that aren’t involved with the club in some way, whether that’s playing or supporting, and contributions like this are integral to the Club’s future development in the Olney community. Like many clubs, lockdown had a massive impact on us. Although our volunteers organised fantastic virtual training sessions and charity events, it’s been wonderful having our players and supporters back at the Club.”
Alongside senior and ladies teams, Olney RFC has over 400 children playing in their minis and juniors teams. The club, which was awarded the prestigious Queens Award for Voluntary Service last year paying tribute to its hardworking volunteers, aims to raise £150,000 for the new addition to their facilities.
Andrew Bloxham, regional managing director at Bovis Homes, said: “We are delighted to make this donation to Olney RFC, which plays an important role in the life of the local community. Being able to give back to the neighbourhoods in which we’re building means a lot to us and we wish the rugby club every success, on and off the pitch.”
