Aiden Reid Saints Senior Academy Contract

Olney RFC Publicity30 May - 19:09

...we wish you well

a big thank you to all the coaches at Olney Rugby Club for their support and for playing such a big role in helping me get to where I am today and beginning my real enjoyment for the sport.
- Aiden Reid

At today’s match at Franklins Gardens, Aiden Reid was presented to the crowd as the proud recipient of a Northampton Saints Senior Academy Contract

In his own words...
“For the past year, rugby for me has progressed massively. In which, I’ve had the opportunity to play for the No1. School in the country NSB. And winning a huge amount this season with a great group of people, including becoming Daily Mail Cup champions, winning the Continental Tyres National Schools Cup, and finishing as TSC winners. Alongside this, I’ve been proud to represent the Northampton Saints U18 Academy, an experience that has played a key role in my development as a player. Despite a hard and frustrating season, the coaches at Northampton have helped me progress and I’m grateful that this has been recognised with a professional senior contract for the 2026/27 season which for me was the best moment of my journey so far. To finish of the season, I’ve also been given the opportunity to represent the England U18 rugby team playing at home against France in front of my friends and family and then finally travelling to Vichy for the U18 six nations festival to round of a unforgettable year playing alongside the best people was an absolute honor to say the least. Lastly, I just want to say a massive thank you to all the coaches that have helped me along the way, especially a big thank you to all the coaches at Olney Rugby Club for their support and for playing such a big role in helping me get to where I am today and beginning my real enjoyment for the sport.” ACR

and from Chris Denoven, DoR (and Aiden’s Head Coach during Colts)
“Aiden has been part of the Olney RFC family since the U15s, and watching him grow into the player, and person, he is today has been an absolute privilege.

Receiving his Northampton Saints shirt at Franklin's Gardens is a moment he thoroughly deserves. Not just because of his ability on the pitch, but because of who he is off it. Aiden continues to show up at training to this day, giving his time to help others improve, and that speaks volumes about his character.

The whole club couldn't be more proud. Go and grab it with both hands bud!
The whole of Olney is behind you ?”

To see Aiden support his Team mates in such a manner really is #TheOlneyWay – his representation for England U18s meant he was excluded from playing in the recent National Colts Cup Final. Many would have stood in the stands and cheered on...Aiden warmed-up with his mates and was the water boy for the match...that is pure class!

The Club wishes you all the best for your rugby future...whatever route that takes, you are Cerise and French Grey forever!

#TheOlneyWay
