More promise shown by Olney's girls team

Olney girls braved the foul weather to pair up with Bletchley girls for a short but intense mixed training session on Sunday.

All 11 Olney girls trained despite the water splash conditions, with the addition of the Bletchley girls meaning that practice games could include rucking, making match conditions possible.

A big shout out to the coaches, John Smeraglia, Cecilia Morris and Pete Byatt (from Bletchley), who despite almost drowning ran a structured session. The girls continue to improve in leaps and bounds, with Charlie and Molly having their best games so far. New addition Amma showed electric pace to score a couple of tries, with Mimi and Eva weaving their usual magic. The hard work up front was delivered by Lottie, Ella and Hattie, with Jess bossing the midfield as normal. Bethany and Hollie patrolled the wings and came looking for work, a wise way of keeping warm in the conditions. Ball handling and catching were surprisingly good given the rain.

One of the key messages of the day was for the girls to back themselves with ball in hand. They took the message to heart and hammered into the line, whilst also looking for offloads where possible. With a solid platform the team has the ability to score tries by the bucketload.
