Recycling maximised at huge event, thanks to Cawleys

Olney 7s, this year in its 12th year, is a major logistical operation for Olney RFC's volunteers - and it's something we couldn't do without the support of one of the club's most valued sponsors, Cawleys.

With around 5,000 people descending on the rugby club, it is a major festival weekend with overnight camping and entertainment throughout the day and into the evening. The event produces a high volume of waste including food debris, glass and lots of plastic.

Club representative Marcus Trott says, "With the war on waste becoming ever more important, we are proud to work with Cawleys, a truly sustainable waste management company who collect everything from food waste and coffee grounds, to glass, plastic and paper for recycling."

In order to operate safely and to ensure that the site is clean and tidy immediately after the festival, Olney's clean-up teams work closely with Cawley’s to make sure that waste is segregated correctly using the right bins. Collections take place ensuring minimum disruption to the remaining festival goers as well as the local community. All waste goes through Cawleys’ recovery facility to ensure maximum recycling rates. This helps our event remain as environmentally friendly as possible.

Across the weekend, Cawley's provided these services to Olney Rugby Club:
Delivery, recycling and removal of;
20 x 1100Ltr bins
10 x 240Ltr bins (for glass)
Including….
1x Dustcart for the clean-up operation!
WITH ALL WASTE RECYCLED

We simply couldn't achieve this level of recycling and swift clean up without the support of Cawleys. A huge thank you to them from the club for all their expertise and support!
