Nick Deighton retiring to the bar.

1st team Touch Judge, Nick Deighton is stepping down from his role after 25 years in the post. Following a 10 year playing career he took up the role to stay involved and, arguably, his 25 years has been the most consistent selection for the 1st team in the history of the club.

During this time he has also served on the committee for 20 years and was Clubman of the Year twice. Not a bad example for anyone thinking of retiring from playing!

Nick says that it is time to slow down and that landmark age of 60 is a good time to stop. [Don’t let Geoff Janes read this!]. Charlie Wells will be taking up the flag for this coming season. Although, rumour has it, Nick may make the occasional cameo appearance when Charlie is not available.

Club Chairman, Paul James, said that Nick has been a fantastic servant and volunteer for the club over many years. A massive thank you to Nick for his support and contribution to the club and in particular to 1st team rugby.

Join Nick behind the white barrier to watch these early season 1st Team home games;

7 September, Olney RFC v Oundle
21 September, Olney RFC v Rugby Lions
5 October, Olney RFC v Towcestrians
19 October, Olney RFC v Derby
