We look to generate a real passion for the game through the RFU Core Values of teamwork, respect, sportsmanship and enjoyment, blended with the strong positive community culture of Olney Rugby Club.
We foster a positive team culture regardless of a players experience, background or ability. We're developing an expansive gameplan in-line with the style of the club and the demands of county and Saints Academy. The coaching team are level 2 and Level 1 qualified and reguarly attend coaching development evenings with the RFU and Northampton Saints.
Always a very difficult subject, in short, we aim to match a players ability to the opposition they are facing and provide maximum game time for all players. We won't always get selection right, but our intention is always to provide a player with the most enjoyable Rugby experience possible. We encourage an open dialogue between parents and coaches - preferably face to face if there are any issues.
We have run an A & B Team in past seasons, and this season (2015/16) with an expanding squad and bigger pitches we will be playing three different types of team depending on the opposition:
- 1st XV for Cup games, or games where the opposition have agreed to a 1st XV game.
- 2nd XV where the 1st XV are in action or the opposition have agreed to a 2nd XV game.
- Mixed team where the opposition have agreed we will play a mixed game.
