Flanker Johnson gets stuck in!
Olney were fired up after the break and Lee put a great kick up for the forwards to chase resulting in a penalty just outside the Huntingdon 22m line. Evans took it quickly and fed Norman, he timed his pass to flying prop Ashton who dived for the line in a clatter of cover tacklers and corner flag; he had certainly scored a try but lay injured for worrying minutes. The magic sponge was applied to great effect and Ashton sprinted back to the half way line ready for battle once more. Huntingdon were stung into action and after a period of constant pressure, and brave defence from the Olney backs and forwards alike, Huntingdon went over for a deserved try. It was probably down to fatigue that in the final three plays of the match Olney let Huntingdon score three more converted tries by simply failing to tackle their big runners.
A disappointing result but well done to all those who played, especially in unusual positions, which allowed the club to fulfil this fixture. The good news is that Huntingdon are due to visit the Rec at the end of April when Olney should be able to field a stronger team.
