Email from Chris :-

Thank you to everyone who has given me their feedback and votes. Please note voting is now over.

Please note that Kit will be on sale on 10 May at the presentation.

Email from Dave :-

The presentation will take place either in the club or on the patio, depending on the weather.

This has taken some thought! Please be aware that I am not a weather forecaster, and I can only allow for the fact that a greater no of kids and parents combined will turn up than the club's fire limit. The do will go ahead on Sunday 10th May as planned, which is the day after the main club dinner.

·         As a result, please circulate this to all your parents as we will need 10-15 people at the club by 9.45am to clear up please (before our presentations) - it will hopefully be many hands make light work.

·         We will also need at least 3 people per age group to help with dishing out food, acting as waiters / waitresses and clearing up please. U6-8 will be needed 11.15-12.30ish and U9-12 from 12.30ish.

REVISED APPROXIMATE TIMETABLE

9.45 - arrive to clear up

11.15 -  U6, 7 & 8 ONLY kids allowed into main hall (IF THAT IS WHERE WE HAVE DECIDED TO HOLD THE PRESENTATIONS). DECISION TO BE MADE AROUND THE TIME WHEN PA ARRIVES -

11.30 - U6, 7 & 8 trophies and medals to be presented to kids (note kids can come up to get medals unlike last year)

12.15 - U6, 7& 8 lunch

12.45 U6, 7 & 8 kids vacate hall. Siblings can stay on to watch U9-12 trophies being handed out. All U6-8 can stay on ONLY IF WE ARE ON PATIO FOR PRESENTATIONS.

12.50 - U9-12 kids access hall (if that is where the presentations are)

1.00 - U9-12 TROPHIES HANDED OUT

1.30 U9-12 LUNCH

IT IS THEREFORE IMPORTANT THAT YOU ADHERE TO THESE TIMES. THERE IS NO REASON WHY EVENTS CANNOT START ON TIME AND WE WILL DO OUR BEST TO KEEP TO THIS TIMETABLE.

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT U6-8 Leave the hall promptly after lunch, so that the tables can be cleared and that U9-12 kids do not arrive too early and try to access the hall. If it is raining, we don't have the facility to house all U6-12 KIDS IF THEY ALL TURN UP, WHICH IS WHAT I HAVE TO ALLOW FOR.

THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT IS THAT WE ARE A VICTIM OF OUR OWN SUCCESS. WE DON'T HAVE THE ROOM TO FEED 200 KIDS AT ONE SITTING, SO THIS TIMETABLE IS THE INEVITABLE RESULT.

I hope I have covered most eventualities, but if you have any queries, please let me know. I will be bringing all U6-12 trophies and medals along on Sunday.

M./J Chairman

calander of events so far !

Well we are at the end of the season, but that doesn't mean the end of the rugby for the summer !

Please make a note of the events below and get back to me if you need any more info. ( will also put it all on the web site - i dont know yet when we move to the under 9's web site but will email you all when it happens)

Presentation Day  10th May  12.00
Everyone would be very welcome !   This will start at around 12.00 for the offical presentations. The kids will receive medals, a few tropheys will be awarded (we will be contacting you next week for nominations for one of them),
(Gareth is hoping to win player of the season, because he says he is brilliant, and chris said he can enter as he is about the same size as the kids anyway ;-).)

If its nice bring a picnic, a picninc blanket, and dont drive !  More info as i find out myself. We are proably going to ask for all the minis to come dressed in their rugby shirts so they can have a photo together, but will confirm nearer the time.  We will also be asking the kids to submit names for our teams, that we will hopefully be able to keep for the rest of the mini junior years - best name gets a prize, so tell them to get thinking. If your not coming, then do please let me know !

Mini and Junior - social evening   16th May
Lots of the under 8's parents so far have said yes to coming to this now, so come along if your free, details so far :-
Originally, this was to be a Black Tie do. However, we did not sell enough tickets by the agreed date, so this has been cancelled. However, we have kept the disco booked and the date is in the diary.  We have now decided to put  on a social instead, particularly to thank the parents for their support of the kids and the club throughout this season. Entry is free of charge to all parents of M/J kids, commencing 7.30 pm until late (probably circa midnight). At present, we are unsure as to whether any food will be available, but at most it will be a light buffet. It will only be open to parents and no under 18s are being catered for.  The dress code is officially DRESS TO IMPRESS.

Mini and Juniors AGM   -   18th or 19th of may

The mini and juniors section AGM is going to be held on either the 18th or 19th of may (TBC ASAP). Last year the turn out was terrible, and it would be nice to see a few more people prepared to take a bit more interest in the club. Not only odes it cover a round up of teh season, and whats expected for the coming season. Its at the meeting that we vote for any officer changes, cost of subx, and any other group decisions. If you can spare the time, please do come along and use your vote, and express any opinions you have.

This season we are expecting to have at least 2 officer positions not filled - catering manager as sarah has stepped down, and club development officer has not been filled for the past few seasons. There may also be others not wanting to continue in their roles.

Under 8's/9's - summer get togethers (June - Aug)

We may well have a few unofficial get togethers, let the kids practice full contact, and maybe a few parents and kids matches, and possible a bbq / picninc or two. Will let you know nearer the time, but let me/naomi/Chris know by email if your interested.

Lions games (30 May-  4th Jul)

I am fairly certain a fair few of the lions games will be shown at the club, as social members you are welcome to come along and watch, and let the kids have a play together over the summer. We may well co-ordinate a day with the above getogethers, followed by watching a lions game ! see link to the fixtures below

 Non Stop Rugby Day (11:00 - September 5th, 2009)

Players past and present wanted for ‘Non Stop’ rugby event

Anyone who ever pulled an Olney shirt on; or who ever wanted to play for the rugby club, is invited to join in a special event this September which is celebrating the new Doffs Field playing facilities which the club is currently fundraising for.

(I believe the idea is they will start of with the little kids playing tag, work up through the minis and juniors, and have adult touch, and also adult full contact, all ages from under 6 to Vets - vic)

The Non-Stop Rugby day will be taking place at Olney rugby club on Saturday 5 September 2009.  A game of rugby will be running for around 4 hours, in which time the rules and players will change according to age bandings, with each player on the field for around 10 minutes.  Contact is entirely optional!  It is hoped that people who played for Olney in the past will come back to the club for this event and stay on for the social evening which will be laid on after the rugby has finished.  It presents a great chance to formally open ‘Doff’s Field’ and give everyone a chance to share memories and make some new ones into the evening!

Players from every section of the club will be taking part, with the mini section starting off the game.  Players will be split into two teams – the ‘cerise’ team; and the ‘grey’ team, paying homage to Olney’s pink and grey strip.  Those taking part will be asked to pay a small amount towards running the day.The event is in the development stage but it is hoped that early publicity will enable as many people to join in as possible.  For now, people are asked to register their interest by emailing: nonstopolney@live.co.uk – with their contact details – more details will then be issued once the event is finalised.

New season and registration

As far as i know we start back on the 5th of september, with registration night being held on friday the 18th or september. Remember your child will need a gum sheild for all training/matches from now on. Should you need a scrum cap, etc, Gareth has spoken to the chap who runs the little sports shop (near pragos) in newport pagnell, and he had said he would give us a discount, so dont forget to ask.

Olney tries Lottie Robinson, Struan Brooks, Archie Forber, Alex Blackburn

A special mention regarding this match as the results dont tell the whole story.
On the day we had a team of experienced players away at bedford festival,
6 new kids who played their first ever competative matches, we had some of the
oppositions players taunting our female players (who incidently both scored tries !)
and it was awful weather heavy rain, strong winds, and freezing cold !

And why we are doing special mentions, i would like to give a special mention to the 6 or 8 lads,
who stayed to the end of the last Oundle game. Just after the Olney Reds game finished with Bugbrook,
the rain got very very heavy, we got to half time and no one was left on the pitch, Oundle wanted to finish the match,
So myself and Paul asked the boys if they wanted to go home or finish the match. Some decided to go home, some had left,
and i dont blame any of them, it was terrible weather - cold wet rainy, and some of them were in tears.
But i think about 6 to 8 of them from each side decided to finish their match despite the rain being so heavy, and the
olney boys put their hands into
