THIS SUNDAY  - PRESENTATION DAY

the plan for sunday is as follows :-

Please arrive in time to have your child sitting on the patio by 11.45am,
presentations start at 12.00, and we need all the kids sitting down ready.

The Awards will be presented on the patio area to the rear of the Clubhouse.
The stage will be at the Gym end with U6 at the front and U12 at the back.
Preferably, the Parents should be on the grass area between the patio and Doff's Field.

The plan is to start the awards with U6 and then in order up to U12.
Each age group coach or rep will come up to the stage to announce the award winners.
The club has hired a good PA System, mikes and a sound engineer, so voice projection will not be an issue.
Each age group should have around 7 mins to present their awards, so we aim to finish awards by 1pm.

As well as the 4 tropheys, U6, U7, and U8 have medals for all players,
which will either be given out at the presentations, or separately after dinner.
(so please dont run off after dinner, if the medals haven't been presented)

The dinner will be for the players only at 1pm hopefully.
The children will be taken into to sit at tables, by age group, and their dinner will be brought to them.
Probably something like shephards pie TBC. There will then be an ice cream van, which will provide an icecream for each childs pudding.

IF, and only IF, there is any food left over after the players have eaten, there is a chance siblings can have food too, but please dont relie on this.
There will be no bacon roll stand, but the bar will be open.

There will not be enough room for parents to come into the club, whilst the kids are eating,
so please remain outside, sunning yourselves, and enjoying a beer !

Its forcast to be hot, and the kids (and parents) will be outside for most of the afternoon, so please dress the kids in hats, suncream etc.
Please bring the kids a bottle of water / squash to drink during the presentations (we dont want smashed glass / spilt cans between the kids).
Also, it may be worth bring picnic blankets for yourself and/or the kids to sit on.

PLEASE ALSO access the club around the side of the clubhouse before 12 midday, so the Catering team can have clear access to the function room without kids running everywhere. If the kids need to use the toilet, we may endeavour to open the changing room door.

Its going to be very busy, as could expect over 300 kids plus parents and siblings.
So parking may be an issue - walk if you can, car share or park in town.

Any questions, just email me or ring me

If you cant make it pls email me asap.    vicki.beynon@btinternet.com

If not see you sunday

 Vicki

I am sure we would all like to thank all the coaches for their hardwork (and patience !) over the season

Under 7's Silverware - 2007/2008

Bedford Blues rugby festival - 7th Oct 2007
Overall Winners

u7's bed 1 07u7's bed 2 07

All the boys played brilliant and every one of them scored. Good defense saw Olney win 5 out 5 matches including a really close final against
Northampton Old Scouts. In the group stage Olney Beat, Bedford B - 7-1, Northampton B 7-0, Tring B 6-3, and beat Tring A 6-3 in the Semi final.

The final went right down to the wire, Zachary Parkinson (3) and Pat Bull (2) providing the 5 tries that got us into a tie of 5 all with seconds left on the clock and them pressing our line. With some great defense from Cerith Beynon, Ben Brear, Lawrence Cook and Zack Southern our team pressured them into turning over the ball and with great flare Olney attacked from behind our own goal line (who said this was a French prerogative) Louis Fielden got clear and ran the length of the pitch and was just tagged a meter short of the line, but George Adams-Stockwin was backing up and took the pass and got over the line for the last move of the game. Well done to George who was the only one of our players new to the game this season. Result 6-5.

Tries on the day were 31 for Olney and only 10 against.

Kettering tournement - 7th Oct 2007
Runners up

(after drawing in the final)

u7s kettering 07

Another fine performance by Olney U7s against some very strong teams. All the games were very close. When the 6 tag rule comes into play next year this will play in Olney’s favor because many times the Olney defense were able to take more than 6 tags in a row, which will result in turnover ball next season.  Very well done to Jack and Ben Skinner, Oliver Comer and Charlie Hicks who played their first tournament and came away with lots of tags a lot of credit and a trophy. Jack, Oliver and Charlie also got on the score sheet.  Ben Brear, Zachary, Lawrence and Louis made another strong contribution and Pat came away with JW cup after scoring 2 tries in the final.

The score in the final was drawn 3 – 3, a very close affair played out by 2 strong teams. Sadly Old Northamptonians were awarded first place because they had scored more points in the league stage of the event.
