Under 7's Silverware - 2007/2008
Bedford Blues rugby festival - 7th Oct 2007
Overall Winners

All the boys
played brilliant and every one of them scored. Good defense saw Olney win 5 out
5 matches including a really close final against
Northampton Old Scouts. In the
group stage Olney Beat, Bedford B - 7-1, Northampton B 7-0, Tring B 6-3, and
beat Tring A 6-3 in the Semi final.
The final went right down to the wire,
Zachary Parkinson (3) and Pat Bull (2) providing the 5 tries that got us into a
tie of 5 all with seconds left on the clock and them pressing our line. With
some great defense from Cerith Beynon, Ben Brear, Lawrence Cook and Zack
Southern our team pressured them into turning over the ball and with great
flare Olney attacked from behind our own goal line (who said this was a French
prerogative) Louis Fielden got clear and ran the length of the pitch and was
just tagged a meter short of the line, but George Adams-Stockwin was backing up
and took the pass and got over the line for the last move of the game. Well
done to George who was the only one of our players new to the game this season. Result 6-5.
Tries on
the day were 31 for Olney and only 10 against.

Kettering tournement - 7th Oct 2007
Runners up
(after drawing in the final)
Another fine performance by Olney U7s against some very strong teams.
All the games were very close. When the 6 tag rule comes into play next year
this will play in Olney’s favor because many times the Olney defense were
able to take more than 6 tags in a row, which will result in turnover ball next
season. Very well done to Jack and Ben Skinner, Oliver Comer and Charlie Hicks
who played their first tournament and came away with lots of tags a lot of
credit and a trophy. Jack, Oliver and Charlie also got on the score sheet. Ben Brear, Zachary, Lawrence and Louis made another strong contribution
and Pat came away with JW cup after scoring 2 tries in the final.
The score in the final was drawn 3 – 3, a very close affair
played out by 2 strong teams. Sadly Old Northamptonians were awarded first
place because they had scored more points in the league stage of the event.
