4th March 2007
Olney RFC Mini Rugby Tournament
14 teams entered the U7's tournament with Olney Lions winning 3 matches 4-2, 5-4 and 6-0. Losing 2-1 and 3-2, and with a 3-3 draw. Unfortunately this was not enough to get the Lions through to the shield or plate final. Try scorers were Tom Warn (8), Cobie Chapman (5), Mason Dowd (3), Thomas Christian, Oliver Davidson, Felix Iles, James Minter and Zachary Parkinson all getting one a piece. Man of the match was given to the whole team for great effort!
Olney Tigers results were a 2-1 win, a 2-2 draw and 4 losses, 3-1, 2-1, 3-2, and 4-3. The tries were scored by Izaak Soul (3), Alexander Brand (2), Harry Rance (2), Jonathon Unger (2), Charlie Whelan and Jacob Wood. Again, this was not enough to qualify. Man of the match went to Jonathon Unger.
Good rugby was played by all teams that attended the tournament which was a very enjoyable day, although poor conditions, a good experience for all boys with many of them in their first season of rugby.
18th February 2007
Away to Northampton Mens Own
14 players travelled to Mens Own to play against MO's and Oundle.
On small and extremely muddy pitches straight running and good passing were the order for the day.
An extremely strong Oundle team which included several 7 year old giants were the most difficult opposition, however this selection for height hadn't taken into account our secret weapons of Patrick Bull and Jonathon Unger who proved to be sufficiently close to the ground to make it difficult for them to be tagged by the lanky opposition.
Unfortunately Oundles pace and strength paid off in the end and they won all their games although all the Olney players showed great determination and persistence to ensure that none of the games were a walk over, and they finished all their games strongly.
Best and most enjoyable game was between the two Olney teams with some great running, superb tagging and some awful refereeing from Simon.
Results on the day were:
1st matches
Olney Kangaroos v's Oundle - Lost 11 tries to 7
Olney Badgers v's Mens Own - Won 7 tries to 5
2nd matches
Olney Kangaroos v's Mens Own - Won 8 tries to 6
Olney Badgers v's Oundle - Lost 9 tries to 5
3rd Match
Olney Kangaroos v's Olney Badgers - Draw 6 tries each
Thanks to all the players for their enthusiasm and efforts which produced a very enjoyable morning for all.

10th December 2006
Home to Bletchley and Buckingham
Olney fielded three mixed teams this week to play against one team from Bletchley and three teams from Buckingham.
The results for the day across all teams were:
Drew 6-6, Drew 1-1
Lost 4-2, Lost 4-3
Won 5-1, Won 5-2, Won 8-2, Won 4-3
Tries scored: 35
Tries Against: 23
A great performance by all the teams. With two narrow losses and some resounding wins.
No player can be particularly singled out for playing well as everyone put in a huge effort.
In the final game of the morning a team of our strongest players were against Buckinghams best 10. In a very even match that was scoreless at half time mainly due to over zealous refereeing, everyone battled hard and put in a big effort. In the second half a sustained attack from Olney that involved superb passing and support running finally resulted in a try for Cobie to make the score 1-0. Unfortunately a bit of slack defending enabled Buckingham to score and the game finished a draw at 1 all.
Thank you to all the players staying focused on the games and putting up with the cold.
3rd December 2006
Away to Bedford Blues
Pinks: Won 7-3, Won 5-0
Greys Drew 7-7, Lost 10-0
The whole squad travelled away to play Bedford Blues with 26 players turning up.
Conditions were muddy and consequently due to a lot of puddles on the pitches we were only given a small area to play on.
Both teams played supperbly well. Most important was the defence that we have been working on for the last month with the Bedford teams being forced in to making mistakes and running backwards.
Most notable performances were from Mason Dowd, Tommy Warn, George Christian and Felix Iles, however all players should be congratualed on an excellent team performance.
