Acknowledging 25 years of commitment to junior rugby

On Saturday 10th June 2017, Olney RFC hosted a surprise “Tebstemonial” match, paying tribute to Alec Tebby, who has given junior rugby so much of his time and commitment over the past 25 years. The match, pitting the 'old colts' against the 'new' was 2 months in the planning as colts players past and present took to the field to salute the efforts Alec has given to over 900 players throughout his stewardship.

Over 50 players came from far and wide for the 12:00 kick off on Doffs Field. It’s fair to say the game wasn’t a spectacle of running, expansive rugby but was played with a smile on everyone face’s and even Alec pulled on the cerise and french grey shirt and ran out with his players.

Afterwards Alec said “I would like to say it was absolutely awesome to see so many "colts" from ages 16 - 45 turning out to celebrate my Tebstemonial. The hip flask and shirt are awesome. Many thanks to Rob Warren, Rob de Main and Justin Mcloughlin for organising the event and to everyone involved. Not forgetting all the lads that couldn't make it today.”

The success of the event demonstrates why Olney RFC is one of the leading amateur rugby clubs in the area developing grass roots rugby for all areas for men and women alike.
