By Kath Middleditch

Apache Braves win 2019 Sport Punk Men's Open

Last weekend saw the Olney 7’s festival take place at Olney Rugby Club. 32 teams from across the UK descended on Olney for the ever- popular Olney 7s event, attracting thousands of people from the local area for a day of quality rugby and entertainment.

The fast-flowing 7 minute each way games culminated in some thrilling finals, with Apache
Braves winning the Sport Punk sponsored Men’s Open tournament; Stimpsons Eves 7s
winning the Stimpsons Evens Men’s Social tournament and Olney Hammerhead Ladies
taking the Cherry Tree Women’s Open Ladies title.

Fitness Fanatics ‘ONs’ won the Skinny Brands Men’s Beer Social, included as a new addition to this year’s Olney 7s. The Cawley’s player of the tournament went to Sam Pointon of Apache Braves.

Now in its 12th year, the Olney 7s is part of the England Rugby Secure Trading Sevens series.

Good luck to Apache Brave, Hammerhead Men’s and Hammerhead Women’s teams who
have all accrued enough points to attend the National Finals in Nottingham next weekend.

Basking in glorious sunshine, the event attracted in the region of 5000 people on the day.
