On blistering form last year, it's no surprise that Olney's Second XV are getting more ambitious and with this comes a new Head Coach to lead them into this season.

Martin Chalkley, 29, from Bedford, has been involved in local rugby for many years, and brings with him a keen ambition to develop not only the formidable "super 2s" but also his own coaching skills.

Specialising in backs play and with Jonny Wilkinson as his rugby icon, Martin was previously a player/coach at Cranfield University RFC for three years and started playing rugby at Ampthill. With success in his teens winning the League and Cup at U17s level, he took a break from rugby but picked it up again a few years later for Cranfield University.

Becoming player/coach, Martin - or 'Chalky' as we'll call him - developed Cranfield until last season they were unbeaten in their league and won the league cup final.

Chalky is also a Firefighter for Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service. It's great to have you joining Olney Martin, welcome to the club!
