Taster session for new team is a great success!

The huge surge in girls and women's rugby in England over the past four years now means that there are over 27,500 ladies and girls regularly participating in the game. At a local level Olney RFC is doing its bit to support the RFU's ambitious plans to encourage even more girls into rugby.

A taster session which ran at the club on 10 July attracted enough for a team, with 16 girls turning up and joining in the fun. Coach Will Morris said: "The players showed some excellent skills already, and they were all keen to learn new things. It is a great start!"

The girls got to know each other through some team games and touch rugby, it's a promising start to an exciting new team for Olney! Welcome to everyone that joined in.

The new Olney Girls team will launch on Sunday 2 September, with a training session at 1230pm at Olney. Any girls in school years 7 & 8 are welcome to just turn up and join in!
